She is perhaps best known for the life-sized prints and figural paper cutouts she has pasted on walls for the past ten years, each portrait taking on a new life as it is slowly destroyed by the elements. Much of Swoon's work is like this - beautiful and powerful but ephemeral. Her projects are often grand in scope, requiring months of preparation and huge numbers of collaborators to make them a reality. And then they disappear. Deitch Projects owner Jeffrey Deitch provides an introduction to the artist and her work, and other contributors include: culture critic and curator Carlo McCormick, Nonsense NYC editor Jeff Stark, journalist and Toyshop-member Rollo Romig, gallery director Thomas Beale, and playwright LIsa D'Amour. Swoon herself writes the captios and an essay on her Miss Rockaway project.$$cBack cover 000811812 60000 $$aSwoon (Graffiti artist)$$xCriticism and interpretation. 000811812 650_0 $$aGraffiti artists. 000811812 650_0 $$aStreet art. 000811812 650_0 $$aGraffiti. 000811812 650_0 $$aFigurative art$$y21st century. 000811812 650_0 $$aFigurative art, American$$y21st century. 000811812 650_0 $$aBoats and boating in art. 000811812 650_0 $$aInstallations (Art)$$y21st century. 000811812 650_0 $$aJunk sculpture. 000811812 7000_ $$aSwoon (Graffiti artist),$$eartist,$$ephotographer. 000811812 77608 $$iOnline version:$$aSwoon (Graffiti artist).$$tSwoon.$$dNew York : Abrams, 2010$$w(OCoLC)741782805 000811812 85200 $$bgen$$hN6537.S98$$iS96$$i2010 000811812 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:811812$$pGLOBAL_SET 000811812 980__ $$aBIB 000811812 980__ $$aBOOK
