Varisco uses concepts and notions from the literature on the policy process and research utilisation to explore the ways in which research has influenced UK-led SSR policy. Here, the author analyses the evolution of the network of policy-makers, street-level bureaucrats, and researchers working on SSR in Sierra Leone, and argues that two main variables – an increased stability in the country and a progressive evolution of SSR in policy and research – contributed to the expansion of the policy network over time and to a better use of research by street-level bureaucrats on the ground. This title derives from the Sierra Leone case study a series of recommendations to improve the use of research by international organisations and bilateral donors working in fragile states. 000823207 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (viewed August 16, 2017). 000823207 650_0 $$aSecurity sector$$zSierra Leone. 000823207 651_0 $$aSierra Leone$$xForeign relations$$zGreat Britain. 000823207 651_0 $$aGreat Britain$$xForeign relations$$zSierra Leone. 000823207 651_0 $$aSierra Leone$$xHistory, Military. 000823207 77608 $$iPrint version: $$z9781137586742$$z1137586745$$w(OCoLC)978289844 000823207 852__ $$bebk 000823207 85640 $$3SpringerLink$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://link.springer.com/10.1057/978-1-137-58675-9$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 000823207 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:823207$$pGLOBAL_SET 000823207 980__ $$aEBOOK 000823207 980__ $$aBIB 000823207 982__ $$aEbook 000823207 983__ $$aOnline 000823207 994__ $$a92$$bISE
