GERD is often perceived as a Western disease and very little literature available about this disease in the Asian population. With growing obesity and westernization in Asia, the prevalence of GERD is rapidly increasing. With growing morbidity and health care cost there is a significant need for understanding the disease from the Asian perspective. This book would fill the gap in the knowledge on GERD among Asians and will highlight the difference in terms of epidemiology, diagnosis and management of GERD from the Western perspective. The novel imaging, diagnostic modalities and treatment aspects will be essentially highlighted in this book. It also deals about the pathogenesis and risk factors of Asians for the development of GERD which have not been explored before. Another important difference is that the book would be dealing with symptom perception and cultural factors affecting the diagnosis and management of this common disorder. Finally, the surgical outcomes of GERD among Asians will be discussed. Information on these topics is limited. 000824313 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (viewed November 1, 2017). 000824313 650_0 $$aGastroesophageal reflux$$zAsia. 000824313 7001_ $$aSharma, Prateek,$$eeditor. 000824313 7001_ $$aBhatia, Shobna,$$eeditor. 000824313 7001_ $$aGoh, Khean Lee,$$eeditor. 000824313 77608 $$iPrint version: $$z9788132208457 000824313 852__ $$bebk 000824313 85640 $$3SpringerLink$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-81-322-0846-4$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 000824313 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:824313$$pGLOBAL_SET 000824313 980__ $$aEBOOK 000824313 980__ $$aBIB 000824313 982__ $$aEbook 000824313 983__ $$aOnline 000824313 994__ $$a92$$bISE
