ZPRA was the primary target of Gukurahundi, a pogrom by the Mugabe government which left an estimated 20 000 civilians dead and countless others tortured in the early 1980s in Matebeleland, Zimbabwe. It has been almost 30 years since the violence ended, but there has never been an official healing and reconciliation programme or truth commission into the atrocities. The government chose the path of amnesia by granting a blanket amnesty to all involved. The regime has enforced a culture of silence over the event through repression and intimidation. The book is a culmination of a two year journey, by the group and the author, of an exploration of group-based self-healing approaches to the pain caused by the violence of Gukurahundi. 000825284 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (viewed December 19, 2017) 000825284 61020 $$aZimbabwe African National Union. 000825284 650_0 $$aCrimes against humanity$$zZimbabwe$$xHistory$$y20th century. 000825284 650_0 $$aViolence$$zZimbabwe$$zMatabeleland. 000825284 650_0 $$aAtrocities$$zZimbabwe$$xHistory. 000825284 651_0 $$aZimbabwe$$xSocial conditions. 000825284 651_0 $$aZimbabwe$$xRace relations. 000825284 77608 $$iPrint version: $$z331966817X$$z9783319668178$$w(OCoLC)994783209 000825284 830_0 $$aAnthropocene (Cham, Switzerland) ;$$v19. 000825284 852__ $$bebk 000825284 85640 $$3SpringerLink$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-319-66818-5$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 000825284 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:825284$$pGLOBAL_SET 000825284 980__ $$aEBOOK 000825284 980__ $$aBIB 000825284 982__ $$aEbook 000825284 983__ $$aOnline 000825284 994__ $$a92$$bISE
