Many commentators have long seen this as a totally futuristic promise that is unrelated to the book of Acts. David H. Wenkel argues that the Twelve inaugurated their co-regency with Christ in the events surrounding Pentecost. This study begins by situating the material of Luke-Acts within the framework of Jewish inaugurated eschatology. It then argues that the kingship promised to the disciples has begun to be fulfilled in the book of Acts. This explains why it was so critically important to replace Judas with Matthias and re-establish the Twelve. It is a step toward re-framing the whole relationship between Luke and Acts within inaugurated eschatology. 000826909 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (viewed March 23, 2018) 000826909 63000 $$aBible.$$pLuke$$xCriticism, interpretation, etc. 000826909 63000 $$aBible.$$pActs$$xCriticism, interpretation, etc. 000826909 650_0 $$aApostles. 000826909 77608 $$iPrint version: $$z3319748408$$z9783319748405$$w(OCoLC)1017848393 000826909 830_0 $$aPalgrave pivot. 000826909 852__ $$bebk 000826909 85640 $$3SpringerLink$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-319-74841-2$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 000826909 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:826909$$pGLOBAL_SET 000826909 980__ $$aEBOOK 000826909 980__ $$aBIB 000826909 982__ $$aEbook 000826909 983__ $$aOnline 000826909 994__ $$a92$$bISE
