It describes the total synthesis of two classes of antimicrobial non-ribosomal peptides (NRPs) - teixobactin and the skyllamycins - with subsequent biological evaluation. The first part describes the first total synthesis of teixobactin by means of a solid-phase peptide synthesis-macrolactamisation approach, yielding a synthetic natural product that can combat a number of clinically relevant Gram-positive bacterial pathogens. The second part describes the first total synthesis of skyllamycins A-C, a family of structurally complex cyclic NRPs, which inhibit the growth of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms that are responsible for significant mortality among cystic fibrosis patients. 000838891 650_0 $$aNatural products. 000838891 650_0 $$aAnti-infective agents. 000838891 650_0 $$aPharmaceutical chemistry. 000838891 650_0 $$aClinical biochemistry. 000838891 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z9789811088056 000838891 830_0 $$aSpringer theses. 000838891 852__ $$bebk 000838891 85640 $$3SpringerLink$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-981-10-8806-3$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 000838891 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:838891$$pGLOBAL_SET 000838891 980__ $$aEBOOK 000838891 980__ $$aBIB 000838891 982__ $$aEbook 000838891 983__ $$aOnline 000838891 994__ $$a92$$bISE
