Ramón is a young Mexican who, after unsuccessfully attempting to cross the border into the United States, decides instead to go to Germany to seek the aunt of a friend who can give him work. But he is unable to find the aunt and so, stranded without money or papers, and speaking only Spanish, he is forced to live on the streets until he meets Ruth, a lonely retiree, who offers to help him.
