      abstract = {The Atlanta Lesbian Feminist Alliance (ALFA) was founded  in 1972 by a group of women that splintered from the  Women's Liberation Center of Atlanta and the gay liberation  movement to focus specifically on issues of concern to  lesbian feminists. In addition to programmatic activities,  ALFA published a monthly newsletter (Atalanta) and set out  to archive lesbian herstory by establishing the Southern  Feminist Library and Archives (SFLA). When the organization  disbanded in 1994 Duke University acquired the SFLA's  archival material and most of its extensive periodical  collection, which can be found here. Subject files include  personal papers, correspondence, news clippings,  photographs, and other media. Festivals, gay pride marches,  conferences, music and comedy shows, theater, and other  events were documented by ALFA. Records also trace ALFA's  sponsorship of out lesbian softball teams in the local  Atlanta leagues. Advertisements and listings of women-only  and gay and lesbian resorts, bookstores, and other  destinations can be found here as well.},
