Honour-based abuse is an incident or crime involving violence, threats of violence, intimidation, coercion or abuse committed in order to protect or defend the honour of an individual, family and or community for a perceived breach of their code of behaviour. Based on unique UK police data, it includes examination of one hundred honour abuse cases and interviews with fifteen predominantly detective specialist police officers that investigate this crime. This book recognises the challenges encountered when policing honour-based abuse and offers recommendations for addressing them. It will particularly benefit police forces in England and Wales, the Home Office, scholars in gendered violence and policing and non-government organisations (charities supporting victims) by highlighting some of the issues associated with policing, partnership working arrangements and safeguarding victims of honour-based abuse crimes.--$$cProvided by publisher. 000891415 588__ $$aDescription based on online resource; title from digital title page (viewed on July 16, 2019). 000891415 650_0 $$aWomen$$xCrimes against$$zGreat Britain$$xPrevention. 000891415 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aAplin, Rachael$$tPolicing UK Honour-Based Abuse Crime$$dCham : Palgrave Macmillan US,c2019$$z9783030184292 000891415 852__ $$bebk 000891415 85640 $$3SpringerLink$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-18430-8$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 000891415 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:891415$$pGLOBAL_SET 000891415 980__ $$aEBOOK 000891415 980__ $$aBIB 000891415 982__ $$aEbook 000891415 983__ $$aOnline 000891415 994__ $$a92$$bISE
