It presents the first experimental device able to transform an input Gaussian beam into a non-diffracting Bessel-like beam. The modulation mechanism, i.e. electro-optic effect, allows the device to be fast, miniaturizable and integrable into solid state arrays. Also presented is an extensive study of the superposition of Bessel beams and their propagation in turbid media, with the aim of realizing field that is both localized and non-diffracting. These findings have been implemented in a light-sheet microscope to improve the optical sectioning. From a more theoretical point of view this work also tackles the problem of whether and how a single particle is able to entangle two distant systems. The results obtained introduce fundamental limitations on the use of linear optics for quantum technology. Other chapters are dedicated to a number of experiments carried out on disordered ferroelectrics including negative intrinsic mass dynamics, ferroelectric supercrystals, rogue wave dynamics driven by enhanced disorder and first evidence of spatial optical turbulence. 000898749 588__ $$aDescription based on online resource; title from digital title page (viewed on August 09, 2019). 000898749 650_0 $$aOptoelectronics. 000898749 650_0 $$aFerroelectric devices. 000898749 650_0 $$aPhotonics. 000898749 77608 $$iPrint version: $$z3030231887$$z9783030231880$$w(OCoLC)1101981334 000898749 830_0 $$aSpringer theses. 000898749 852__ $$bebk 000898749 85640 $$3SpringerLink$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-23189-7$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 000898749 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:898749$$pGLOBAL_SET 000898749 980__ $$aEBOOK 000898749 980__ $$aBIB 000898749 982__ $$aEbook 000898749 983__ $$aOnline 000898749 994__ $$a92$$bISE
