Byatt, Emma Donoghue, Sarah Waters, Helen Humphreys, Margaret Atwood, and Ahdaf Soueif, among others, and their attempts to re-envision the erotic. Kathleen Renks study analyzes the phenomenon of neo-Victorian fiction and its relationship to contemporary culture, specifically focusing on women writers and the ways in which the erotic is conceived in neo-Victorian fiction, and how this re-conception relates to the interests of contemporary feminism. Renk argues that in their re-envisioning of the Victorian novel, these women writers highlight classical concepts of erĂ´s, and, in addition, they gravitate toward Audre Lordes idea that the erotic is not "plasticized sensation" but is "the lifeforce of women, [it is] creative energy empowered. 000938893 588__ $$aDescription based on online resource; title from digital title page (viewed on August 24, 2020). 000938893 650_0 $$aEnglish fiction$$xWomen authors$$xHistory and criticism. 000938893 650_0 $$aEnglish fiction$$y20th century$$xHistory and criticism. 000938893 650_0 $$aEnglish fiction$$y21st century$$xHistory and criticism. 000938893 650_0 $$aLiterature and history$$zGreat Britain$$xHistory$$y20th century. 000938893 650_0 $$aLiterature and history$$zGreat Britain$$xHistory$$y21st century. 000938893 650_0 $$aErotic literature, English$$xWomen authors$$xHistory and criticism. 000938893 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z3030482863$$z9783030482862$$w(OCoLC)1152489672 000938893 852__ $$bebk 000938893 85640 $$3SpringerLink$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-030-48287-9$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 000938893 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:938893$$pGLOBAL_SET 000938893 980__ $$aEBOOK 000938893 980__ $$aBIB 000938893 982__ $$aEbook 000938893 983__ $$aOnline 000938893 994__ $$a92$$bISE
