Often these countries have been considered deviant cases against the proliferating decline of social capital studies. However, despite great international interest in the Scandinavian region, the volume argues that the civil societies and the civic engagement of these countries remain poorly understood. Most interest in the Scandinavian welfare models addresses the balance between state and market, but under communicates the role played by civil society and popular engagement in associations and voluntary organizations. The contributions offer a coherent portrait of stability and change in formal and informal forms of civic engagement over the past 25 years as well as offering contextualized knowledge of the history and institutional design in which Scandinavian civil societies are embedded.--$$cProvided by publisher. 000940386 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (viewed October 15, 2018). 000940386 650_0 $$aCivil society$$zScandinavia. 000940386 650_0 $$aHumanitarianism$$zScandinavia. 000940386 650_0 $$aSocial service$$zScandinavia. 000940386 7001_ $$aHenriksen, Lars Skov,$$eeditor. 000940386 7001_ $$aStrømsnes, Kristin,$$eeditor. 000940386 7001_ $$aSverg, Lars,$$eeditor. 000940386 77608 $$iPrint version:$$tCivic engagement in Scandinavia.$$dCham, Switzerland : Springer, [2019]$$z331998716X$$z9783319987163$$w(OCoLC)1043883659 000940386 830_0 $$aNonprofit and civil society studies. 000940386 852__ $$bebk 000940386 85640 $$3SpringerLink$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-319-98717-0$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 000940386 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:940386$$pGLOBAL_SET 000940386 980__ $$aEBOOK 000940386 980__ $$aBIB 000940386 982__ $$aEbook 000940386 983__ $$aOnline 000940386 994__ $$a92$$bISE
