Within the context of increased divorce rates, single parent families and healthier, more active elders, grandfathers have come out of the shadows and re-invented themselves in a new caring, nurturing role. These original studies demonstrate that grandfather involvement is independently and positively associated with higher levels of child well-being in the UK and South Africa, as well as in Arab and Israeli teenagers, and pre-school children in England. The chapters conclude that societies could benefit from encouraging more grandfathers to become actively involved in their grandchildren lives and argues the case for grandparent visitation rights in those countries that currently do not have them. 000958805 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (EBSCO, viewed February 2, 2017). 000958805 650_0 $$aGrandfathers. 000958805 7001_ $$aBuchanan, Ann,$$eeditor. 000958805 7001_ $$aRotkirch, Anna,$$d1966-$$eeditor. 000958805 7730_ $$tSpringer eBooks 000958805 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aBuchanan, Ann.$$tGrandfathers : Global Perspectives.$$dLondon : Palgrave Macmillan UK, ©2016$$z9781137563378 000958805 830_0 $$aPalgrave Macmillan studies in family and intimate life. 000958805 852__ $$bebk 000958805 85640 $$3SpringerLink$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://link.springer.com/10.1057/978-1-137-56338-5$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 000958805 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:958805$$pGLOBAL_SET 000958805 980__ $$aEBOOK 000958805 980__ $$aBIB 000958805 982__ $$aEbook 000958805 983__ $$aOnline 000958805 994__ $$a92$$bISE
