The key provisions of the statutory offence of corporate manslaughter, introduced into the United Kingdom in 2008, are examined, and set in context through a consideration of their relationship with prosecution for fatalities at work via the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. Further contextualization is made through comparison with the current position in the United States, highlighting both similarities and differences in approach to occupational fatalities. The range of potential penalties is discussed with particular focus on the sentencing guidelines that apply after February 2016. Concluded corporate homicide cases are reviewed in order to assess the current regime in terms of financial penalties and to shine light on the evolving approach of the prosecuting authorities and the courts to these offenses. 000961285 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 000961285 650_0 $$aCorporations$$xCorrupt practices$$zGreat Britain. 000961285 650_0 $$aCorporations$$xCorrupt practices$$zUnited States. 000961285 650_0 $$aCriminal liability of juristic persons$$zGreat Britain. 000961285 650_0 $$aCriminal liability of juristic persons$$zUnited States. 000961285 650_0 $$aManslaughter$$xLaw and legislation. 000961285 655_0 $$aElectronic books 000961285 7001_ $$aJones, Lucy$$c(Lecturer in law),$$eauthor. 000961285 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aField, Sarah.$$tWhen business kills : the emerging crime of corporate manslaughter.$$dNew York, New York : Business Expert Press, 2018 $$z9781631579646 000961285 830_0 $$aBusiness law collection. 000961285 852__ $$bebk 000961285 85640 $$3ProQuest Ebook Central Academic Complete $$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/usiricelib-ebooks/detail.action?docID=5165163$$zOnline Access 000961285 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:961285$$pGLOBAL_SET 000961285 980__ $$aBIB 000961285 980__ $$aEBOOK 000961285 982__ $$aEbook 000961285 983__ $$aOnline
