Media Ventriloquism repurposes the term to reflect our complex vocal relationship with media technologies. The 21st century has offered an array of technological means to separate voice from body, practices which have been used for good and ill. We currently zoom about the internet, in conversations full of audio glitches, using tools that make it possible to live life at a distance. Yet at the same time, these technologies subject us to the potential for audiovisual manipulation. But this voice/body split is not new. This book explores some of these experiences of ventriloquism and considers the political and ethical implications of separating bodies from voices. 000962539 588__ $$aDescription based on online resource; title from home page (viewed on March 12, 2021). 000962539 650_0 $$aIdentity (Psychology) in mass media. 000962539 650_0 $$aVoice in mass media. 000962539 650_0 $$aCharacters and characteristics in mass media. 000962539 650_0 $$aCommunication and culture. 000962539 655_0 $$aElectronic books 000962539 7001_ $$aBaron, Jaimie,$$eeditor. 000962539 7001_ $$aFleeger, Jennifer,$$eeditor. 000962539 7001_ $$aLerner, Shannon Wong,$$eeditor. 000962539 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z9780197563625 000962539 830_0 $$aOxford scholarship online. 000962539 85280 $$bebk$$hOxford Scholarship Online 000962539 85640 $$3Oxford scholarship online$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oso/9780197563625.001.0001$$zOnline Access 000962539 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:962539$$pGLOBAL_SET 000962539 980__ $$aEBOOK 000962539 980__ $$aBIB 000962539 982__ $$aEbook 000962539 983__ $$aOnline
