Description

George L. Mesker & Co. (architectural iron works) opened in this location (30 Ingle St.) in 1892. That building was destroyed by fire in 1891 and soon rebuilt. With expansions, by 1962 it comprised a city block. The name became Mesker Steel in 1971; the business closed in 1981. After use by another company, this building was razed in 1992. What is seen here is believed to be what existed prior to the October 16, 1891 fire.
