Description
J. Breith Building: This building is located at 506 Main Street. The building started as a one-story wooden structure built by Jacob Breith (UA58 7516 far left) as a pharmacy and grocery store. The original building was demolished to make room for the new two-story brick structure at some point between 1893 and 1899. The Historic New Harmony Office was located on the second floor of the building in the early 1970s. The Kopper Kettle Gift Shop was located in the J. Breith Building during the early 1970s. After the J. Breith Building was renovated, it became home to the Imoko Plants shop, very briefly, before becoming a part of the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art as the sales floor. This is a photo of the doorway between the Breith and Heckman Buildings where Historic New Harmony had their offices. Note the address is 506 1/2 Main Street.
